I am linking 4 C object files together to produce the executable file. If the binary file does not exist, it creates the executable with my user owner:group. I can then re-run the linker and it will over-write the executable and the owner:group will remain the same. All is good.
If another...
I have a Pwr6 520 express server, with 6 drives: 2 146GB and 4 450GB drives.
I have installed a single VIOS on the 2 146GB drives and created 4 storage pools(VG's) in VIOS and assigned 1ea 450GB drive to ea storage pool.
I have done this in order to assign 4 virtual disks to my VIOC's...
With my customers starting to ask if my applications are certified to run on AIX7, I ve started to think about a scenario.
I have a Power6 520 express server, with a VIO partition and an AIX6.1 partition. I want to bring up another partition with AIX7
I know IBM offers the binary...
Ooopps sorry about that.
I should have been more specific as to the server machine type. The server I am using is a Power6 520 Express, 8203-E4A with processor feature 5634.
Model 8203-E4A 2-core 4.2GHz (rPerf = 15.95) (CPW 8300)
I am building a P520 Express server. I want to split the backplane so I can connect 3 of the disk drives to the internal SAS controller and the other 3 to an added SAS card. I have 2 cards available IBM feature 5901 which is a PCIe 4X sas card and an IBM 5912 which is a PCIX 4X sas card.
My...
You are so correct, I have had 2 new KVM's in the frame and have rebooted 1 of the servers, the video will come up, but I keep filling the syslog and errpt with KBDD and LFTD errors.
Almost like the newer kvms don't output a constant signal voltage.
The old Apex Outlook that failed is...
I have 2 PH660's that both have video cards in them, they are each cabled to a KVM. The KVM died and since then have rebooted the servers, now that I have replaced the KVM I still don't have any video. I assume when the server starts up it checks to see if there is return signal on the video...
I have many AIX servers ranging from 4.3.3.3 to 6.1. I always hate looking at the disks on the older boxes because I have to translate the 512 blocks or 1024 blocks to gigs. Where as the new servers have the df -g. Is there a way to upgrade the df command on the older servers to display...
I am currently in all the VIO docs learning as fast as I can. I have a P520 express server that has 6 disk slots in it. I am going to split the backplane and install 2 146GB and 4 450GB drives.
I'm trying to figure out how the disks will get assigned if I want to install 1 VIO server and...
The .netrc file worked great after auto login I defined an init macro and entered all my commands, added an extra line and saved.
Then in my script I just ftp hostname and everything moves.
Now I can have cron or another script run the first one.
Thanks for the direction.
I have an AIX box and a windows PC and need to have a script execute on the unix box that logs into a windows FTP server and does a put.
I can't seem to pass the username and password over and direction is greatful.
That is a great idea, I will setup the service processor just so its there, but we do have the network controlled and monitored power. Never thought about that I could just unplug it remotely and plug it back in.
This is not a usual occurence, but when it does happen it seems no one is around...
I've used the HMC before, its just like what I use on my Sun and HP boxes That is what I am looking for. I think the 660 are 11 12 years old. 6 way machines that get abused and dont show any sign of quiting. I knew they wouldn't have that kind of functionality, but I though maybe an add in...
I admin 5 AIX systems:
System Model: IBM,7026-6H1
Processor Type: PowerPC_RS64-IV
Number Of Processors: 6
A sunfire V215 Solaris 9 and 10
3 HPUX servers
The HP and Sun server are newer but they have a seperate port that configs to the Lan that gets pwrd up when you apply AC power. The...
