Unable to connect to database
try using an alternative backup program. Avepoint has a program DocAve which stores info to a local network drive...and it doesnt interfere with sP cause it stores on its own tables.- jmp22

Locking down documents
I'm not sure if SharePoint allows you to monitor/restrict user access. I think the company that I use for SharePoint back-up (AvePoint) is coming out with an auditing product to be used on SP for that purpose.- jmp22
