I have just installed an external hard drive on my computer (for backing up my files) and my question is, is this new drive susceptible to security issues? Would it be infected if a virus struck my computer? Should I keep it turned off until I need it? Thanks.

I want to thank everyone for their responses. I have never used barcodes very much in my work but I seem to remember that Corel Draw had the ability to create them. That is why I was prompted to ask about Illustrator. Thanks again for sharing your Vector Visions.
