Hi Mo:
Yeah, been there, done that. Those little block squares & artifacts appear to be the death throws of that card, at least AFAICT. Good card in its day though. Too bad.
Anyway, just to let you know that my EXPERTISE, per se, comes from having been in exactly the same position as yourself...
if you buy a new gpu install the drivers from the website, not from the disk. And uninstall the old drivers before fitting the new card".
Hey, that's what I said to do!
That's copywhite incringment, or something like it!
I feel violated somehow!
Where's my attorney?
I truly believe there is...
Congrats on the 8800!
Not to appear like a MOO (Master of Obvious), but sometimes even an exprerienced technophile leaves out, or neglects to add a crucial step.
(Via "Add & Remove Programs", in "Control Panel is the supposed safest and best way for both #1 & #2),
1-Did you COMPLETELY remove...
Hey cjelec!
I was talking with a friend of mine who is in NYC about the NV 8800 GTX. He mentioned this Craigslist link to me that he saw from yesterday:
http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/sys/394951344.html
I don't know who the manufacturer is, but it looks brand new, and the asking price is...
Well, what are you doing on that business computer, designing the Freedom Tower at the World Trade Center, single handedly?
Sheesh!
(Turns completely GREEN with jealosy, but not viewable online.)
Anyway, the companies you mentioned all appear to be in the same class, more or less, at least as...
Yo!
First of all, an Nvidia 8800 GTX, 768 MB?
SHOWOFF!!!
Anyway, and in all honesty, I spent two to three weeks reading a gazzillion reviews about customer service of all the companies you mentioned as I researched buying my humble AGP 8X upgrade.
The only way I could have read more reviews...
I use the entire Computer Associates Suite of Pest Patrol (as recommended by cdogg), Firewall, and the AV program, (all of which I get for free as a Time Warner Cable customer, BTW).
At least as far as I am concerned, they seem to work trouble free, for the most part.
I realized after going...
I hope that I am not sticking my finger in your ear, Deepgrewal, but how about something that cleans up your REGISTRY like:
3B Software's: "Windows Registry Reapair Pro"?
I would think that adding all those new pieces of hardware and software over time would begin to jam up the Registry with a...
I just noticed this headline on the Internet...

Be safe.
All the best,
DJSRC
Okay, here you go, and there you are...
1-There are two things in life a guy should never take for granted, or touch without being respectful:
ELECTRICITY & WOMEN!!!
(Trust me, I know a heck of a lot more about one, than the other.)
NEVER MIND!!!
2-"The other option, I would think, would be...
kjv611:
I thought that was your problem. Frankly, I had the same problem when touching my TOWER sometimes, and I realized what was wrong. I also live in an old building, and I have mostly two prong wall outlets, and was using a multi-outlet surge protector, taking an adapter to plug it into the...
I didn't change the PSU for a number of reasons:
1-A few people who commented on NEWEGG about the 7600 GT said that the 350 watt PSU requirement was not accurate, in that they had less, and the card worked fine. I think XFX is just covering their bases if someone has their TOWER fully stacked...
Well, the last time I looked, which was before I ordered the WINTEC RAM, just to be sure because of the confusion thing, was about three weeks ago.
As far as I recall, (which is not saying much), it is printed right on the DIMM, not on a piece of attached paper.
I would be happy to pull off...
I used to own an analog audio recording business, and GROUNDING was always an issue to keep in mind, but it's not my area of expertise, so I always had an electrician type person adressing those issues.
Were you taking a three pronged electric plug from a surge protector for instance, and...
Hey, I just saw this capture card that is so dirt cheap, I am a little suspicious as to whether it's worth the money.
How can it be so much less expensive than other cards, like the PVR-250, and do the job I need, which is really nothing too complicated, other than recording the news, or maybe...
