Just to update the thread I resolved this issue by entering the SIP peer address again in the "External SIP Proxy" box under the Network element entry for the SIP peer

Thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately regardless of that setting the MBG still rewrites the invite line to include the IP address of the SIP peer rather than the domain name.
The invite that the MCD sends to the MBG correctly contains the domain name, it's the MBG that's adjusting it

I know this thread is a few months old now but did you manage to find a solution? I'm facing the same issue - the MBG is rewriting the request to have the IP address of the destination SIP trunk rather than the domain provided in the SIP peer profile and SIP trunk configuration on the MBG.
