Badfrog, Thanks for the reply. I tried the cold reset but it didn't help. I think that it must be a software fault as I set the printer port back to Standard from ECP in the BIOS and printed from the old Borland Pascel IDE using ^KP and it came out at the proper density. I've since tried it...- BobKellock

My LJ5 started printing faintly so I installed a new toner but without any improvement when using the printer normally e.g. from Word.
