    Finally found what the problem was: Some files seemed to be flagged as system admin only. Setting these files to include the Users group fixed the problem.

    This morning I've gone onto the workstation and it more or less behaves as expected - notepad can save a file, folders can be created, zips can be expanded - none of which worked yesterday.

    Hi ShackDaddy, We're using the Win32 File api and using UNC paths. The security tab on the server shows the all the permissions set to 'Allow'. Thanks Ben
