Hi, the only things recorded in event log were The Microsoft Exchange POP3 service was successfully sent a start control. It appears to be working now after a few reboots.

The Microsoft Exchange pop3 service wont start. when i manually start it, it takes a while then comes back with the error 'the pop3 service could not be started in a timely manner'. It then hangs on 'starting'. Any ideas whats going on here?

Might be an idea to set up folder redirection. I done that (only 10 clients mind) and it seemed to solve alot of the logon lengths and profile corrupting. I have a share called \userdocs$ and redirect folders to there.

I couldnt seem to find much information about this on the internet. Is small business server 2003 able to be set up for routing and remote access?? Regards Adam

Yeah, its part of the mcdst thing, they wouldnt let me get a copy of the virtual hard drives so i said id do my own ones. :) its purely experimental. Thanks again.

hi, can ping by ip and by server name, after poking around it appears the pop3 service was disabled. It works now but asks for a name and password....it doesnt seem to like them tho.

I have a virtual exchange server, its for 70-272. It is on the same ip range as the client and emails i send to the username@domain appears in the mailbox bit in exchange but outlook says there is a problem connecting to the server to retrieve the email. All usernames and passwords are correct...

Have you tried resetting your primary partition? happened to me but i managed to re tick the 'primary partition' thing.

Thanks for the help guys, linney - wouldnt work as its real player. Its the bbc player on www.bbc.co.uk I will block the ports and ip address on out main router. Ive set the internet options to no downloads via http but im not sure this will work.

What is the easiest way to limit a poweruser so that they cannot download via http as they keep streaming radio which is causing serious hassle for other users on the network. This user will not take it in that this is unnacceptable. Also blocking installers from running aswell. Regards Adam
