How do I automate the backups of my Databases and Transaction Logs?

by  ecobb  Posted    (Edited  )
This can easily be done in Enterprise Manager. Just click on the "management" folder and right click on "Database Maintenance Plans" and then select "New Maintenance Plans". This will take you through a wizard that will set up and schedule backups of the database and/or transaction logs as often as you would like them to occur.

By using this method, SQL Server will be able to perform the backups without having to shut down the databases, it can even backup databases while they are being used.
