Server and Scope options are applied this way:
Server Options - If no scope options are set, Server options are applied. This is the best place to set options if all scopes use the same ones.
IE: If you have 5 scopes and all will use the same DNS, WINS, Gateway address, you can set them on server options and they will all use them.
Scope Options- these overide the server options. You can overide one or many server options.
IE: if you have 1 scope out of 5 that will use a different gateway, you can set the gateway in scope options and it will use the other options from the server list.
DNS settings - Set 2 dns options for your dns servers, set a third for the ISP. Be sure your DNS server are at the top of the list. If you only have one internal DNS server, set up a second as it can save much heartache. Set your DNS server to use the ISP DNS servers as forewarders How to do this: open DNS manager, go to the server icon (not the zone), right click and select properties. goto the forewarders tab, enter the ip addresses of your ISP DNS servers and click ok
Have a nice day
