The Avaya install docs clearly state not to lose this password...ever. You will have to reinstall CCR to establish a new password. Or do you?
In this case the IT department bungled email delivery where the email address entered for the CCR admin was no longer delivered and the CCR Admin lost the admin password.
Simple.
Use wireshark to capture packets during the CCR Forgat Password sequence.
Stop capturing packets and sort by Protocol
Scroll to the SMTP packets and you will see the data for the SMTP email attempt.
Look at the Data fragments directly below "Start Mail Input; end with <crlf>.<crlf>"
In clear text you will see the sent temporary password.
