If you are not using an exchange server and want to use the voicemail to email feature, you can configure the IP Office to directly access your ISP's SMTP server.
First, you must create a user on your VMS server named "voicemail". Give this user adminstrator priveleges. This is the account VMPro should be installed under - if you've currently got it running under "Administrator" export your callflows, uninstall, reinstall under "voicemail" account and reimport your callflows.
Second, in the VMPro client under preferences, general go to the MAPI tab. Ensure it is set to SMTP, not MAPI. Don't put anything in the other fields.
Next, in the windows control panel double click "IP Office Voicemail Pro." Under the email settings tab, type in voicemail@yourdomain.com. For example, if your customer contact's email is bob@abccomp.com, in this field you would put voicemail@abccomp.com
In the SMTP Email settings, type in the exact name of the SMTP server at the customers ISP. You can check this by looking at a working outlook/express on one of their PC's and checking the "Accounts" setup. You can then hit the Check button to verify you can connect to the SMTP server. Click on OK.
Note that you MUST use the correct domain name and the same SMTP server as the client is using, otherwise the ISP may decline to relay the message.
