One of the great features of SharePoint is the posting on the companyweb is all the incoming faxes coming into you company. On a new machine with office you will open all faxes in the Microsoft Document Imaging(MS DI) program it view all the pages of the fax.
This works great for a couple of months but then you client tells you that is no longer opens in MS DI but in IE and can only view the first page.
WHY? I have found that the client would have installed Apple QuickTime to view files on the web.
Why would this affect SharePoint?
QuickTime uses the .tiff extension same as MS DI. If you install QuickTime it installs plugins to make .tiff viewable in IE. Not what you want in the SharePoint environment. So you uninstall QuickTime--Faxes still opens IE.
After much research here is how you restore the program link.
Open Regedit
Browse to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Software
Microsoft
Internet Explorer
Plugins
Extension
There you will find .tiff folder. Delete the folder and now the incoming faxes will again open in MS DI.
