To Change the IP address of a CallPilot Via a Serial Cable
Power down the CallPilot
Start Hyperterminal.
1. My Computer
2. Double Click on your C drive.
3. Double Click Accessories.
4. Double Click HyperTerminal Folder.
5. Double Click HyperTerminal Icon.
It will bring up a connection screen:
6. Type in CallPilot for the name and leave the first icon selected. Click OK.
It will bring up another screen:
Ignore everything except the ôConnect Usingö Field.
7. Click on the drop down menu.
8. Choose Com 1.
9. Click OK.
10. Bits per second: 9600
Data bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1
Flow Control: Hardware
11. Click ok.
The COM properties window will close and you will see a white HyperTerminal screen.
12. Power up the CallPilot.
In about a minute or so a lot of information will scroll up the screen. Eventually you will see it prompt:
To change any of this press any key within 2 seconds.
13. Quickly press the space bar.
14. The prompt (M)odify any of this or (C)ontinue? appears.
15. Press the M key and then Enter.
16. Do you want a LAN interface? Press Y then Enter.
17. This boardÆs LAN IP Address (0.0.0.0 û RARP). Type in the desired IP address.
18. Subnet mask for LAN (0 for none) Usually 255.255.255.0 will appear automatically. Just hit Enter.
18. Should there be a default gateway for packet routing? If this CallPilot needs a Next Hop Router, press Y then Enter. If this CallPilot doesnÆt need a Next Hop Router, press N then Enter.
19. IP address of default gateway? If needed type in the address of the Next Hop Router. If not then just hit Enter.
20. The system will prompt you to change a few more parameters, JUST PRESS ENTER UNTIL THE SCREEN SHOWS:
(M)odify any of this or (C)ontinue?
21. Press C and then Enter.
You can now Close out of HyperTerminal and disconnect your serial connection. Connect your Ethernet cable to the CallPilot and the other end to the laptop.
