How to upgrade from 8x24 DR5 to MICS and keep your programming

by  aragon  Posted    (Edited  )
You will need to do a backup of your 8x24 DR5 using a RAD and Norstar Manager.
Mimimum DR5 revision is 30MUJ20.
You will have an option in Norstar Manager to upgrade the DR5 database to R1T1.
You can then install an R1T1 cartridge into the new MICS cabinet. The system size must be the same.
If you had a six port expansion card in your 8x24 you will need a six port expansion card in your MICS.
Restore your upgraded database to the MICS using Norstar Manager.
Upgrade the R1T1 to MICS 3.0 to minimize data loss.
Using the standard Nortel MICS upgrade tool upgrade to a 5.0 release of MICS to mimimize data loss.
Note if you are upgrading to XC software you will need the XC upgrade tool.
Once at 5.0 software you may upgrade to 6.1 by replacing the PCMCIA software card.
Process takes about two hours.
You may lose your system speed dials, restrictions, and service mode programming.
