Upgrading Boot Loader Firmware

Required only for versions prior to 3.0

The following is instructions on how to upgrade your Call Pilot 100/150 (CP) boot loader firmware version, you must have the most current boot loader firmware before upgrading the Call Pilot software to the latest patches.

Items needed:

1. Laptop.
2. Serial 9 Pin cable.
3. One blank Sandisk Flash PCMIA Memory card with at 64 meg space or more. There are reports of failing upgrades due to using memory cards other than Sandisk so make sure you use Sandisk type cards.
4. Upgrade software available from www.Avaya.com support pages (login required).

Download the current boot loader software and unzip/extract files to your flash memory card via your laptop (or other means), use the stop/eject feature before pulling flash card from laptop.
Hook up your laptop to the Call Pilot serial port and use Hyper Terminal to view CP(or similar program).
Power down the CP and remove the CP software/feature card from the rear slot, insert your flash card with new boot loader software into the rear slot.
Power up the CP and wait to see Boot programming...done appears on the terminal screen.
Power down the CP, remove your flash card and re-install CP software/feature card and power CP backup.
While booting you should see Call Pilot 150 Boot Loader V1.5.21 (or later then you previously had) on the terminal.

You may now proceed to install current Call Pilot patches.
