How to change the IP address for your Laptop and how to change the IP on the Call Pilot via Web Browser.
Note that an IP can also be changed by using a 9 pin straight through cable and Hyper Terminal via Windows.
To network a Call Pilot you must have the following:
1. Laptop with Windows and Internet Explorer
2. regular RJ45 data patch cable
3. crossover RJ45 data patch cable
4. Network interface on laptop (or adapter, PCMIA) to accept RJ45 connection.
5. an IP address supplied to you by the Network Administrator at the customer site.
6. a data jack installed near the Call pilot onto the network if the Call Pilot is too far from the Data HUB/Switch or Router.
7. notify customer of 5 minutes down time.
Most networks will have a range of IP's but only the 4th set of digits are different as not to cause a conflict, this last set identifies each computer on the network.

The call pilot's default IP address is 192.168.110.10, you will need to change this to match the range of the network at the customers site.
To network your laptop to the Call Pilot so that you may change it's IP address you need to change your laptops IP address to be in the same range as the Call Pilot's so since Call Pilot is 192.168.110.10 then you will need to make the laptop 192.168.110.11. and to do that read on.
Plug in your crossover data cable into your laptop (interface) and to the Call Pilot
To change IP of laptop with:
Windows 98
Press Start, Control panel and double click Network settings.
Windows XP
Press Start, Control panel, Network and Internet connections, network connections, double click you LAN icon.
Scroll down to your TCP/IP setting and click "properties", click "specify" or "Use the following" (if an IP address is in there already then note it down so you may change it back) and type in 192.168.110.11 and click "apply", click OK and then OK, windows 98 will ask you to reboot so do it, XP will not so.....dont!.
Once laptop reboots open up windows internet explorer and type in 192.168.110.10 (address of CP), the login screen will appear and will ask for password, the password is the same as the system managers password used in Feature 983 (do not enter the SM mailbox # 12, 102 or 1002... just the password that follows), if the password was 0000 you may be prompted to change it so let the onsite telephone admin know of the new password.
Look for "system id" in "configuration" near the bottom and this is where you will change the IP of the Call Pilot to the one the network administrator supplied to you, TRIPLE check the IP you enter here and label the IP address on the inside of the Call Pilot in case it needs to be serviced or gets sold down the road.
After you have changed the IP you must soon reboot the Call Pilot for the new IP to take, log out and disconnect the data patch crossover cable from the CP and plug the regular data patch cable into the CP and plug the other end into the data jack or DATA HUB, SWITCH or Router.
Re-boot the Call Pilot, you will see on the CP the Network Light (middle light) will be on meaning there is a connection and top light if it's a high speed. Now test the IP by going to any PC on the network, open Internet Explorer and enter the new address of the Call Pilot and login.
