How do you setup destination codes on a PRI system to route Emergency 911 calls over copper trunks?

This topic should be considered an Advanced Norstar Programming technique.

This FAQ assumes a Modular ICS with a 6.1 feature cartridge and digital trunk interface connected to an ISDN-PRI.

Program the line type for two or more copper trunks (lines) to Pool A. By default, all stations should have access to Line Pool A, it is important to verify this in programming. Also, check to make sure Route 001 uses Pool PRI-A.

Note that the dialing string 911 is included as both a restriction and an override in the initial defaults for restriction filter 01. This arrangement prevents anyone from blocking calls for emergency assistance on lines or sets using the default filter.

Add destination codes as follows:
DstCode Rte Absorbed
90 001 1
910 001 1

911 000 0
Note: 911 is the only dest code with zero absorbed digits

912 001 1
913 001 1
914 001 1
915 001 1
916 001 1
917 001 1
918 001 1
919 001 1
92 001 1
93 001 1
94 001 1
95 001 1
96 001 1
97 001 1
98 001 1
990 001 1
9910 001 1
9911 000 1
9912 001 1
9913 001 1
9914 001 1
9915 001 1
9916 001 1
9917 001 1
9918 001 1
9919 001 1
992 001 1
993 001 1
994 001 1
995 001 1
996 001 1
997 001 1
998 001 1
999 001 1

Always test each of the destination codes by placing test calls, especially 911 and 9911. Also verify the calling number and street address with the 911 operator when placing the 911 test calls.
