For every DN that appears on a TN or group of TNs, one of the TNs is the MARP û that TN is where the DN finds its HUNT and FDN instructions.
Butà
If you see MARP NOT ACTIVATED, the MARP system option is disabled, and DN Hunting proceeds as if MARP did not exist. This document explains how it works.
First, obtain an example of a DN that appears on multiple TNs:
[tt]
>LD 20
REQ PRT
TYPE DNB
à etc
[/tt]
Here's what you see: By default, before any changes are made to a system
--if all the TNs holding a DN are digital phones, the ôringingö appearances are placed at the top of the DNB list
--Non-ringing telephones are placed at the bottom of the DNB
--The first TN in the list is the one that the DN obtains its HUNT and FDN instruction from.
If a DN appears on multiple ôtypesö of TNs; that affects the default order of the TNs in the list.
--Analog (500/2500 type) telephones are listed at the top
--Digital telephones are listed in numerical TN order at the bottom of the list.
Any service change (even re-entering an existing CLS or feature) to an Analog telephone moves its TN to the top of the list.
Any service change (even re-entering an existing CLS or feature) to a Digital telephone moves it to the bottom of the list.
Call redirection (HUNT and FDN) follows the TN at the top of the list. In other words, an Analog TN generally controls the HUNT and FDN when the DN appears on multiple TN types. In the case of all Digital TNs, itÆs still TN at the top that controls the HUNT and FDN .
If there are no Analog TNs with the DN you are trying to control, you must perform some CHG to the digital TNs so that they are re-ordered so that the TN with the desired HUNT and FDN move to the top of the list.
You will need to test it out if you are faced with this problem on a MARP NOT ACTIVATED system.
Ideally, turn MARP on. The study you must perform prior to activating MARP only involves DNs that appear on more than one TN. Once you turn on MARP, the TN order does not matter any more. The TN with MARP is the one that will start to control the DNs. So the first step, is entering MARP YES in the TNs that you want to control HUNT and FDN when you turn on MARP.
To activate MARP once you have the DNs MARPed to the right TN, go to LD 17; REQ CHG; TYPE PARM, then at MARP, enter YES. Do it quick, if you Sysload, all of your TNs re-ordering is lost.
