This FAQ is to guide you to a successful installation of the X-Lite SIP Softphone.
I am working with the following versions of software and I do not know what other versions this works with:
CS1000M v4.5
ISP1100 Signaling Server v4.5
HP COTS Stand alone NRS v5.0
Counterpath X-Lite Softphone v4.0 (I am currently using the 4.0 Beta)
PreReqs:
1. Nortel SIP Access Ports
2. A working SIP Route in the CS1000
3. A working RLB Entry (RLI) pointing to the SIP Route
4. A Working Nortel/COTS Signaling Server & NRS
5. Your CS1000 configured and recognized as a SIP Endpoint in NRS with correct routing entries relevant to your CS1000
6. Counterpath XLite SIP Softphone installed on a PC that has access to the Nortel CLAN
7. It is VERY important that your Service Domain in the NRS has a DNS entry associated (A & PTR records) that point to the hosting NRS. In this example, sip.company.com needs to resolve to the CLAN IP address of the NRS. Do NOT continue until this step is done.
If you do not meet the minimum prereq's, DO NOT continue as you will not achieve favorable results.
In this example I am going to use the following values for illustrative purposes only, substitute these values to fit your configuration:
Service Domain: sip.company.com
L1 Domain: regionalcompany.com
L0 Domain: localcompany
DN of Softphone: 5555
SIP Route: 20
RLI: 20
STEP 1: Configure the CS1000:
In LD 87 add CDP Entry DSC 5555 Point to RLI 20
STEP 2: Configure the NRS:
Log into NRS
Click Configuration Tab, Click OK at the warning that pops up.
Click Set Standby DB View.
Click User Endpoints.
Click Show.
Click Add.
In the View User Endpoint Property page:
Username can be any alpha or numeric
Username: Test
L0 Directory Number (DN): 5555
Authentication enabled: Auth Off
This is all we need for testing purposes.
Click Save
Click Tools.
Click Database Actions.
Click Cut Over and Commit.
Step 3 Configure the Softphone:
Launch X-Lite 4.0 Softphone
Click File, Account Settings
Click Add
Click Account Tab
Account Name: Nortel (or whatever you want doesn't matter)
Protocol: SIP
User ID: Test@sip.company.com (use UserID created earlier.)
Password: Leave blank (unless u enabled auth & pw in Step 2)
Display Name: Test (or whatever, doesn't matter)
Authorization Name: Test (use UserID created earlier.)
Make sure Register with Domain and receive calls is checked
Send Outbound via: Domain
Dialplan: #1\a\a.T|+xxxxxxxxxxxT;match=1;prestrip=2;match=2;prestrip=1 (Read more about dialplans on Counterpath.com support)
Click Advanced Tab

Make sure Use Rport is Checked
UNCHECK Send Outgoing request directly to target.
Thats it, you should now be able to make calls using your SIP softphone. You are limited only by the number of SIP Access Ports your CS1000 is licensed for.
