YES. Request and install patch MPLR20340

Patch MPLR20340 will capture any E911 calls that have succeeding digits (within a 2 second span, and it is the customer's responsibility to ensure that these are indeed, non-E911 calls. See the External Notes below.

**** Warning - Potential suppression of Actual Emergency Calls ****

This patch has been developed to provide CS 1000 and Meridian 1 system operators the ability to intercept calls that are misdialed by dialing extra trailing digits and to prevent them from being routed to the public Emergency Response Center. When this patch is activated, all emergency calls in which the caller dials additional digits during the 2 seconds following completed dialing of the emergency number (the ESDN configured in LD24, typically 911, 112, etc) will be intercepted locally.

For example if a caller dials 9-1-1-1, or 9-9-1-1-1 (e.g. AC1 or AC2 = 9), with the last "1" digit being entered within 2 seconds following the "9-1-1", the call will be intercepted locally as a misdialed E911 call and will not be routed to the Emergency Response Center. The caller will receive a fast-busy (reorder) tone.

The On Site Notification (OSN) telephone must be configured, and will be alerted as with any emergency call. An OSN log message (OSN000) will be printed on all system maintenance TTY and PTY terminals. In the example shown above there is the potential that this call may have been a true emergency call with the panicked caller accidentally pressing an extra "1", however the call will not be routed to the Emergency Response Center.

It is imperative that all emergency calls that have been locally intercepted in this manner be monitored on the OSN telephone and printer, and immediately investigated by local emergency personnel to ensure that an actual emergency has not occurred.

Before installing this patch ensure that the customer and local emergency personnel are aware of the potential to suppress actual emergency calls and are prepared to identify and investigate these calls.

In addition, all normally dialed emergency calls will delayed by approximately 2 seconds prior to being routed to the Emergency Response Center. Pressing the "#" key (for example " 9-1-1-#") will result in the 2 second delay being terminated and the call being routed immediately.
