The Windows 9x/Me and XP operating systems include a program called MSConfig for modifying programs set to load at startup, which is useful for troubleshooting slow bootup/logins and disabling virus/malware applications that may have found their way onto a computer.
Windows 2000 itself does not include MSConfig at all, but a nice application called [link http://www.mlin.net]Startup Control Panel[/link] by Mike Lin performs this functionality admirably, and is available for free from that web site.
While it is true that the Windows XP MSConfig works on Windows 2000, abeit with a few glitches, I would not recommend it, because of these possible glitches. Additionally, use of such software contravenes the EULA which was agreed to on the installation of Windows XP.
