I ended up wasting alot of time reformatting to try to solve the problem, not to mention alot of time talking to those far more educated than I in this matter. but I was determined to have a both 98 and XP Pro.
None of the suggestions helped as I had already done them, but here is how my problem was solved, after a week of going over the same things...
I went to System Properties>Hard Disk Controllers> Intel PCI Bus Master
IDE Controller >Properties> Settings? Dual IDE Channel Settings:
I had it set to the Only Primary - changed it to Both IDE Channels
Enabled >
this fixed my problem. Now I see the partitions and the slave drive..
