How do i install the ACTIVEX VIEWER manually

by  ibearian  Posted    (Edited  )
We have a robust firewall, VPN and a problematic satelite
web connection. This has made downloading the crystal web viewers a nightmare. So i asked for help on tek-tips and this is what i found worked.

I would like to thank MR WILLY and GJPARKER for thier assistance (well they both told men parts of the process.

I copied the contents of my C:\Program Files\Seagate Software\Viewers directory to cd and installed from this. But i'll talk about the actually path on your crystal installed host/development pc below

In your C:\Program Files\Seagate Software\Viewers\ActiveXViewer directory you will see CRviewer.inf.

This needs to be left clicked the click on install. This seems to write to the regisrty that the file has been downloaded and it location.

next in C:\Program Files\Seagate Software\Viewers\ActiveXViewer\en (en for english) you will see NPVIEWER.exe. This will istall the actual software, i just let it install to its selected path.

Then restart your pc. Then look for your web report page (//myserver/myweb/report1.rpt). Make sure your IE settings are set to allow activex etc. You will then get a download promt, just click yes at them all and it brings the report up.

(i think it still downloads a file from microsoft but this to can be maually installed by reading the inf file)

any comments or if it dosen't work for you email me and i'll see what i can do .... but i am not a guru, just like you i needed an answer.
