I did this as a last resort as I was unable to go online or do a system restore. After days of trial and error, mostly error, I found a program that actually was able to remove this very nasty infection from no less than 5 computers. I tried all the old stand bys, everything I have used for years, many of which I have recommended and they all failed to find and remove this problem. I, now at wits end came across a program that stated it would infact remove Antivirus 2008-2009, why not give it a try, nothing else would work, and the longer this problem stayed on a computer the worse it got until it was nearly impossible to even navigate, so I downloaded it from another pc to a flash drive then installed it on the infected pc. Next I started in safe mode with networking as admin., once there I could now update the software, this is a very important step as it must be updated to be effective, then ran the program. The results were astonishing, 43 instances were found, from there i had them removed, some had to be removed on restart. After restart a message stated that some files had been changed and that Windows was unstable and needed to replace these files, to insert Windows cd. After a bit I had to restart and the problem was gone completly. Here is a link http://www.malwarebytes.org/
