PRINCE2 is a project management methodology owned and maintained by the Office of Government Commerce in the UK. It summarises best practice from a variety of industries and backgrounds. PRINCE2 outlines 8 processes that are required to successfully carry out a project. These are:
* Starting up a Project (Sunny-side Up)
* Directing a Project (Dangerously Pink)
* Initiating a Project (Iced Peas)
* Controlling a Stage (Chocolate Sauce)
* Managing Stage Boundaries (Sky Blue)
* Planning (Painted Lips)
* Managing Product Delivery (Marmalade Pot)
* Closing a Project (Crazy Plum)
Also included are key concepts that are fundamental to PRINCE2 are control, quality, planning, lessons learned and risk management. Documents with templates are provided as well as clear decision points. There are two levels of certification for individuals: Foundation and Practitioner both are exam based.
