Fireworks 4's "Insert Popup Menu" is a great feature for those of us who aren't DHTML-savvy handcoders ... but as you'll soon notice in working with them, it's sometimes tough to position the menus properly in the final HTML page. Fireworks positions its menus with absolute positioning, meaning that they will pop up at a fixed distance from the left and top edges of the browser window. If you've anything-but-left-aligned your images that trigger the popup menus, the menus won't align properly when viewers resize their browser windows. It's not really a bug, but can be a potential source of irritation when you're a picky designer like me.
If you're struggling with positioning issues, here are two helpful resources that I've been pointed to.
The first, a must read: Macromedia's Pop-up Menu technote.
http://www.macromedia.com/support/fireworks/ts/documents/pop-up_location.htm
This explains many of the potential quirks, with multiple workarounds.
That article will also point you to Holtenwood Computing
http://www.holtenwood.bc.ca/test/popup.htm
where another solution involving relative positioning has been developed.
Happy customizing.
