Command: newterm

[color red]System:[/color]
This is the hardware platform CM is running on and shows what CM / Definity
version is turned on in system-parameters customer-options (note that this can
be different than the generic software the switch is loaded with). If the
Software Version: is higher, that is the patchable generic software load and the
System: is what the customer is paying for (RTU) Right to Use. If you see these
different, it means the Software Version: was installed to fix bugs and enhance
software, but the enhanced software may not be available unless the version on
system-parameters customer-options is the latest for the load. On new systems
that do not have translations yet,

Below is what the RTU is using for features, regardless of the installed
software version

Code:
display system-parameters customer-options                      Page   1 of  11
                                OPTIONAL FEATURES

     G3 Version: V8
Code:
G3iV1.1-286 = intel         g3v1 "tape" system
G3iV1.1-386 = intel         g3v1 "flashcard" system
G3siV4      = intel         g3v4
G3siV4+m    = intel         g3v4 "+m" e/w extra memory (shown if v4 or v5 only)
G3iV4-386   = intel         g3v4
G3vsV4-PBP = intel g3v4 "vs" wall mount single carrier
                                 "ABP" Advanced Business Package
                                 "PBP" Premier Business Package
G3siV5+m    = raptor        g3v5 "+m" e/w extra memory (shown if v4 or v5 only)
G3siV7      = raptor        g3v7 turned on in system-parameters customer-options
G3cfsV10 = intel NT g3v10 "cfs" Contry, Definity One, or IP600
G3csiV11    = intel         g3v11 or MV1 "c" is prologix
G3siV11     = intel         g3v11 or MV1
G3rV11      = mips          g3v11 or MV1
G3xV13      = linux         g3v13 or CM3
Standard    = standard memory linux
Extra Large = X-large memory linux

s75, g1, g3, g3r - the Definity/CM version is determined by the load on the tape / removable media / harddisk
Upgrades / Downgrades to different versions are possible with new media that contain different Definity/CM versions.

g3si, g3csi e/w flash card. Definity/CM version is burned onto the processor board. Orange flash cards with loads can be used to erase and burn new version onto the processor board. CM loads from board, translations load from translations flash card. Upgrades / Downgrades can be done by reprogramming or replacing the processor boards.
Careful, this makes it possible to use your previously saved translation card with incompatible generic software and corrupt your translations.

linux servers can have different CM versions on different linux partitions which can be booted from or upgraded.
Upgrades to partitions can be done from CD, ftp, tftp, http, sftp, scp, etc. Then boot from the partition you want.
translations, os, security backups can sometimes be restored from previously configured systems to the same or different servers.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[color red]Software Version:[/color]
This is the generic, patchable software version installed on the platform. (Note
this may be a higher version than what is shown on "display system-parameters
customer-options"). If this is so, the customer is not paying for the full RTU
for this installed.

If this version in v10 or higher then a RFA license file must be installed to
change RTU and features that the customer is paying for.

If this version is v9 or lower, then RTU and features are turned on with the
Avaya "init" login with "change system-parameters customer-options"

v11 is the highest load for a g3r
v12 is the highest load for a g3si and DefinityOne or IP600
v13 is the highest load for a g3csi Prologix

versions lower than v11 were not tagged as MV or CM, but Definity
version 11 is also known as MV or MultiVantage
version 12 and higher is also known as CM or Communication Manager
Code:
Software Version: G3V2g.04.5.1.099 "g" gaz is same as intel
Software Version: G3V4i.08.0.084.1 "i" intel
Software Version: GWSi.03.2.841.01 "GWS" Guestworks or BCS
Software Version: R012c.00.1.222.0 "c" DefinityOne, Contry, IP600
Software Version: R011r.03.2.536.1 "r" mips G3r
Software Version: R012i.01.0.411.7 "DEVELOPMENT LOAD" labs debugging turned on
Software Version: R014x.00.3.737.4 "x" linux s8xx platform

"list configuration software-versions"

g3csi, G1, s75 have alternate commands for software, patch, media, and
announcement, or firmware information.

This command in a linux s8xx server only shows the installed CM software version

Output data will be determined by the command.
software version, memory resident, tape disk flash resident and removable media
with translation and patch timestamps. Since these commands can read from the
media, they are very helpful when doing upgrades, patches installing firmware
for wireless, and working on fl-data or sto-data issues and save translation or
save announcement issues.

# Quick version of list config information from memory:
Command: list configuration software-versions memory-resident

# This command reads the media so it is slower and more complete if there is not
# anything wrong with the installed (plugged in) media:
Command: list configuration software-versions

# This command reads the media of the active processor and then the media of the
# standby processor if the system is duplicated and the duplication link is up.
# shows media for spe-A and spe-B side by side on several screens.
Command: list configuration software-versions long

shows servertype at the beginning of the Release String:
shows currently installed MV or CM software load, updates on your system,
timestamps for license install and last save translation. This shows the version
installed on the "/" partition.

"swversion -r"

shows servertype at the beginning of the Release String:
shows previously installed MV or CM software load if install used same server
and same hard disk and loaded the new software on a different partition than
the old software. This shows the version installed on the "/root2" partition.

Current version and last saved translations version

Note: this page will show different versions after and upgrade until a save
and the next reboot. Then the version will match. If on a lab switch, you load
some translation card that was saved on a different system, the versions here
will be different.

If the current version is a lesser version than the last saved version, you
could have software corruption.
