TN2312 IPSI Firmware Upgrade
* Tip û Start with upgrading the standby IPSI board, then when done switch the active IPSI and then upgrade the previously active one. Please read all instructions below before beginning.

* Caution - If you have only 1 IPSI board this maintenance will be service affecting.

Locate & Download Firmware Upgrade File
Place file in root of local C:\Drive
Save translations all
Display Alarms = note any alarms that were there before you begin.
Command: List ipserver-interface
Note which IPSI is in standby mode, this is the IPSI to upgrade first.
Open Internet Explorer and access Maintenance Web Interface:
and type in the IP Address of the Active Server.

Login: (your normal login & password û ensure you have SHELL ACCESS on your login set to: Y)

Launch Maintenance Web Interface
Under Miscellaneous, select ôDownload Filesö
Browse for the IPSI Firware file you placed in the c:\ on your computer and then click ôDownloadö
Under IPSI Firmware Upgrades Select Download IPSI Firmware
Select to start Download Now
Select the standby IPSI cabinet number
Select the correct IPSI firmware file & click Download firmware
Select "Start Time" for download
Target IPSI is the IPSI that was in Standby you noted above.
Choose the file you downloaded
Then select "Download Firmware"
=wait a bit=
Under IPSI Firmware Upgrades, select Activate IPSI Upgrade
Select the Standby Cabinet and Begin now, then click Activate IPSI upgrade:
=wait a bit=
Go to ASA and do a list configuration all. Or list config control. Ensure that the new version of firmware is on your IPSI board.

Display alarms.
Success

Now to switch over to the standby IPSI, in this case, IPSI A was in standby. To switch IPSI use command: set ipserver-interface a-all. (if standby was "B" then put in b-all).

List ipserver-interface û note that opposite server is now active and previously active one is in standby.

Repeat steps above to upgrade firmware for the other IPSI - Start at the step where you ôDownload IPSI Firmwareö (Because the file is already on the server)

When done both IPSIÆs should be the same firmware version.
If you have other IPSI's in your port networks, the procedure is the same however if your remote sites do not have redundant IPSI's they will loose connectivity during the firmware upgrade. Ensure you know the commands to bring your remote system back online before working on any single IPSI remote sites.

From remote Port-Network or ESS server:
Command: get forced-takeover ipserver-interface port-network [Enter in port network number]
