Authorization Codes

Authorization codes are used to allow users to override the COR for a station. To use Authorization Codes, follow these steps:
Setting Up Authorization Codes
[ol]
[li]From a GEDI or a SAT command line, verify that Authorization Codes are enabled by entering the command [red]DISPLAY SYSTEM-PARAMETERS FEATURES[/red]. Navigate to the section titled "AUTHORIZATION CODE PARAMETERS" and verify that "Authorization Codes Enabled" is marked "y".[/li]
[li]Determine the allowed length of the Authorization Codes from the "Authorization Code Length:" field. Write this number down, as you will need it in later steps.[/li]
[li]Create a Class Of Restriction (COR) with the permissions you would like the user to be granted. Write down the COR number, as you will need it in later steps.[/li]
[li]Determine if there are existing Authorization Codes by entering the command [red]LIST AUTHORIZATION-CODE[/red] at the command like. If you there are existing Authorization Codes, you will need to ensure that the new code is not already in use.[/li]
[li]Enter the new code by entering the command [red]CHANGE AUTHORIZATION-CODE n[/red], where "n" is the new code meeting the length requirement from step 2.[/li]
[li]The "Authorization Code - COR Mapping" screen will open, displaying the next 48 Authorization Codes from the one you entered as "n" in the previous step (if you have over 48 existing authorization codes). There will also be 16 (or more) blank spaces. Enter the desired Authorization Code in the AC field and the new COR created in step 3 in the corresponding COR field.[/li]
[/ol]
Using an Authorization Code
[ol]
[li]Dial the desired number from the station. If the number is restricted by the COR, you should receive 3 tones and a dial tone.[/li]
[li]Enter the Authorization Code and the call should complete.[/li]
[/ol]
If you do not hear the 3 tones, ensure that the original stations COR is not set to total outward restriction. If the call does not complete after entering the Authorization Code, ensure that the correct permissions have been assigned.
