First of all, welcome. Don't be afraid, Avaya switches are pretty easy to learn, unlike some others.
For starters, it wouldn't hurt to read some basic administration documents, like this [link http://support.avaya.com/elmodocs2/comm_mgr/r1_3/cd823_3/233756_5/233756_5.pdf]Little Instruction Book for Basic Administration[/link], [link http://support.avaya.com/elmodocs2/comm_mgr/r2_0/245801_1_1/233757_6/233757_6.pdf]Little Instruction Book for Advanced Administration[/link] and [link http://support.avaya.com/elmodocs2/comm_mgr/r1_3/cd823_3/233758_5/233758_5.pdf]Little Instruction Book for Basic Diagnostics[/link]. Anyway, remember this site: [link http://support.avaya.com]http://support.avaya.com[/link], it contains a lot of information you need.
Avaya sites contain a lot of useful information, although the navigation is awful and ugly. However, you can use Google to search over Avaya sites, like this: [link http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=definity+learning+site%3Aavaya.com]using site:avaya.com modifier[/link]. This will give you best results.
For quick speed up on the specific topics use these overview links:

Also there are several useful non-Avaya sites:

Then, there are a lot of courses on Avaya products. There's a web site of Avaya University, [link http://www.avaya-learning.com]http://www.avaya-learning.com[/link], where you can sign up for self-paced or instructor-led courses, there are plenty of them on all Avaya products including switches. Most of the courses are self-paced web-based and has really affordable prices. Use curriculum maps based on your solution area or function of work to pass through your education and achieve some goals.
After you learn something, you can pass some exams and assessments to become a certified professional. There are three levels of Avaya certification: Associate, Specialist and Expert. If you want to become certified, visit www.avaya-learning.com, there are curriculum maps for every Avaya certificate available.
Also don't forget to read FAQs and search forums before asking questions. There's a LOT of information on this forum and a lot of topics were discussed more than once, so chances are that you can find an answer to your question instantly, without waiting for someone to answer.
Again, welcome and good luck on your way to become Avaya professional.
