C-LAN Install/Move in CM 2.0

To install a C-LAN in Communication Manager 2.0 and above...

Get static IP address, subnet, data network Gateway, data mod extension, and network name of the new C-LAN board.


+ IP Address __________________________________________
+ Subnet __________________________________________
+ Gateway __________________________________________
+ Data mod ext __________________________________________
+ C-LAN Name __________________________________________



1. Insert new C-LAN into cabinet slot.
2. Put network amphenol adapter on same slot.
3. Run æcha node-n ipÆ
A. Type in C-LAN Network Name and IP
4. Run æadd ip-in (board location, i.e. 01C12)
A. Enter the Node Name from the æcha node-n ipÆ screen/C-LAN Name above.
B.Change Subnet address if necessary.
C. Enter Gateway address from above.
D. Do not Enable Ethernet Port yet.
E. Set Network Region to æ1Æ unless otherwise.
F. Change Ethernet Options to:
I. Auto æNÆ
II. Speed æ100Æ
III. Duplex æFullÆ
5. Do a ædisp com linkÆ
A. Look for the next unused link and write it down. ______________
6. Run æadd data nextÆ (or the data mod ext given to you)
A. Change Type to æethernetÆ
B. Put in slot and port of C-LAN, i.e. 01A0517 (port 17 for C-LAN)
C. Put in link from above (ædisp com linkÆ)
D. Under æNameÆ put in Network name of C-LAN and add æData ModÆ
7. Plug in network cable.
8. Run æcha ip-in (board location)
A. Tab down to æEnable Ethernet PortÆ and set to æYÆ.
9. Run æsa tÆ to save translations.
10. Run æstatus clan-port XXXXX17Æ
A. Check for Active Channel 1, Link Status, Service State, and Physical/MAC address.
11. Ping a remote IP.
A. Run æping ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx board (new C-LAN board location).
12. Troubleshoot as necessary.


To move a C-LAN board in Communication Manager 2.0 and above...

1. Run 'cha ip-i (board location i.e. 01a05)' [print this page]
A. Set 'Enable Ethernet Port' to 'N'
2. Run 'status clan-port 01A0517'(board location w/ port 17) [print this page]
A. Write down Service Port Data Extension (Data Mod)
3. Run 'disp data (Service Port Data Extension from above)' [print this page]
4. Run 'remove data (Service Port Extension from above)'
5. Run 'remove ip-i 01A05' (board location)
6. Remove board and amphenol adapter from back and move them to new slot.
7. Run 'add ip-i (new slot location for board)'
A. Copy all info from printout of 'change ip-i 01A05'
B. Do not enable board yet.
C. Tab until you can set Ethernet Options/Auto to 'N'
D. Change options to 'Speed' 100 and 'Duplex' Full
8. Run 'add data (use old data mod ext/Service Port Extension)'
A. Copy all info from printout of 'disp data XXXXXX'
9. Run 'cha ip-i XXXXX (new board location'
A. Enable ethernet port 'Y'
10. Run 'save tran'
11. Run 'status clan-port XXXXX17
A. Check for Active Channel 1, Link Status, Service State, and Physical/MAC Address.
