DVD/CD-Rom Troubleshooting...

by  BadBigBen  Posted    (Edited  )
So you have installed that new fangled Burnsoft and upon a new start your DVD or CD-Rom drives have disappeared from the Explorer or otherwise...

then mostlikely the upper and lowerfilters within the Registry have gotten corrupt...

To fix try the following: open the Registry Editor...

START, RUN, type in Regedit... search for the following KEY and delete it:

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}"

Without the quotes ofcourse...

If you can't delete it, then you might have to give yourself access by right clicking (on the leftside) and set your access rights first...

then exit the RegEdit and go to the 'device mangler' and uninstall all CD-ROM's, DVD's, and CD-RW's... REBOOT... let windoze reinstall the drives...

Hope this helps those few times when this happens...
