On Windows, how do I map an address to my machine other than localhost?

This explains how to use a host other than localhost to map back to your own machine.

Be very careful as the address that you supply here will always map to your machine. So if you used www.yahoo.com then you would not be able to access yahoo on this URL.

The file that you need to edit is in your Windows directory and is called hosts.sam

The file is properly commented so you should not have any problems..

# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost

Hope this helps
