Galaxy's log files can grow to 5MB in size. Once they exceed 5MB they start a new log set. The current Galaxy LOGS will have a _1 at the end of its name.
The log files are found in the CommVault Systems..Galaxy Log Files directory on the CommServe, MediaAgent, and Client systems.

Almost all of Galaxy's Log files are essentially named the same as the executable it is logging information about. Below you will find a list of the Galaxy Log files and brief description.


CommServe Log Files:
CVD.log - Primary log, DataPipe management
MediaManager.log - All media related events
JobManager.log - All job related events
EvMgrS.log - GUI Server
AppManListener.log - Remote application calls
AuxCopyMgr.log - Auxialiary Copy Manager activity

Administrative Log Files:
ArchPrune.log - Archive pruning activity (4.2 version)
DataAging.log - Data Aging activity
commserveER.log - CommServeER activity
AuxCopyMgr.log - Auxiliary Copy activity

Process LOGS:
StartPrePostCmd.log - Pre/post command execution
StartRestore.log - Restore execution
w2dbStartrestore.log - Win2K System State and Notes DB restore execution
StartSynthFull.log - Synthetic Full backup execution

MediaAgent Log Files:
CVMA.log - Media mount/unmount
AuxCopy.log - Auxiliary Copy activity
StartSynthFull.log - Synthetic full activity

IndexCache LOGS:
CreateIndex.log - Index creation
updateIndex.log - Index updating
archiveIndex.log - Index backup log
fsIndexedRestore.log - Index processing for restore

iDataAgent LOGS:
clBackup.log - File System Backup
clRestore.log - File System Restore
clReboot.log - Full system restore
File Scan.log -Ifind.log
w2dbbackup.log - Backup Windows state
w2dbrestore.log - Restore system state

Misc. LOGS:
sim*.log - Installation related LOGS
CVCsl*.log - Licensing activity related LOGS
RegEvMgrsWithAD.log - Registering Event Manager with Active Directory
