Issues for Libraries and Win2k

by  algonkino  Posted    (Edited  )
Windows 2000 wants to control the library and drivesàà

ò Arcserve installation may succeed and function correctly for a while
ò However, the library suddenly hangs or stays in a persistent state of ôUpdatingö
ò To avoid or resolve this check the following:
ò StartàProgramsàArcserveITà.Device Configuration
ò Select the last choice
ò ôEnable/Disable Devices for RSMö

ò If the checkbox on the next screen is emptyà.then Windows 2K is trying to manage your tape drives/library
ò Select the checkboxà.click on it and a red check appears.

ò Select finish and reboot the server to reset the configuration Changes.
ò Unless the Library Vendor has given you a specific a reason as to why you should not enable this feature for Arcserve, it is best to do so. Arcserve is programmed to manage the hardware within its domain.
