Ever wonder what all those numbers in your tape drive's serial number mean. Here you go:
Cxxxxxxxxxx -- Plant ID (E = Eindhoven)
xCxxxxxxxxx -- VTC ID (see below)
xxCxxxxxxxx -- Printer
xxxCxxxxxxx -- Year (9=1999, 0=2000, 1=2001, etc.)
xxxxCxxxxxx -- Month (A=Jan, B=Feb, etc.)
xxxxxCCxxxx -- Day (01= first day of month)
xxxxxxxCCCC -- Counter (0000 first product of the date of the printer)
VTC Code:
1 - DI,SC,SCe,DP,USB,FW series
A - ADR30/50 series (S301,S302,S501,S502)
E - Engineering products
F - DI,SC,SCe,DP,USB,FW series using "Beetle" PCB (these used the 4.xx firmware instead of the 1.xx of the VTC1 coded.)
G - ADR2 Series
W - Refurbished DI,SC,SCe,DP,USB,FW,ADR series
X - Refurbished DI,SC,SCe,DP,USB,FW using "Beetle" PCB
