If you need to re-install ARCserve Advanced or Workgroup onto a server or workstation, it is a good idea to clean out all registry settings and directories. In complex setups such as Cluster servers, Tape Libraries, SANs and Fibre Channel, Arcserve can sometimes get confused and can re-use previous settings (although it shouldn't), this is the simple procedure that I use and it works every time:
1. Uninstall Arcserve using Add/Remove Programs from Control Panel.
2. Delete the ComputerAssociates registry key, this can be found at HKLM\SOFTWARE\ComputerAssociates.
3. Reboot the server.
4. Delete the x:\ProgramFiles\ComputerAssociates directory and any other associated options/agents directories (the x:\Ca_lic directory does not need to be deleted).
