You have just installed ARCserve 2000 on your brand new Windows server, tried to make a nice and complicated backup job. The time to click on the Run Job icon has come, and this is what you do.
But ARCserve doesn't want to obey you. Instead, it says the following : Not enough rights for domain/administrator on server <xxx> to complete this transaction, ec=5
Gosh! What's going wrong?
Well, there's only one thing to do to fix this:
Open Windows Explorer, and go to the folder where ARCserve 2000 resides (C:\Program Files\Computer Associates\ARCserve by default).
The "Arcserve" directory should be shared as ARCserve$. Check and modify the permissions of this share to get the following :
- Full Control for the Administrators group
- Modify for the Backup Operators group
- Read for Everyone
Go back to ARCserve, and then resubmit your job: oh, my god, it works!
