How do I prepare for the Arcserve 2000 Install?

Before installing Arcserve 2000, consider the following:

WARNING: Arcserve will attempt to upgrade your Internet Explorer - Stop all application services and make a full backup using MS-backup and the MS tape driver before installing Arcserve 2000.

Reference the Arcserve 2000 Security FAQ on this site
-----------------------------------------------
Reference the Preventing Arcserve Problems FAQ in this site
----------------------------------------
1. Make sure the SNMP service has been installed for the OS.
2. Make sure the computer browser service is running.
3. Make sure you have service packed the OS and applied hotfixes.
4. Sign on as Administrator.
5. Copy the ENTIRE Arcserve 2000 CD to c:\asinst
6. Download ALL of the patches referenced in the "How do I patch Arcserve 2000 FAQ?" on this site. Put the patches in c:\aspatch
7. Install the base Arcserve 2000 product and agents.
8. Install the Arcserve service pack and patches, follow the FAQ.
9. If the service pack asks for a .MSI file, point it to the c:\asinst\intelnt\arcserve.ae directory.
10. Always check http://support.cai.com for the latest Arcserve 2000 patches.
