How do I create a RAM filesystem in AIX?

by  PSD  Posted    (Edited  )
If you wish to create a RAM filesystem within AIX follow the procedure below - N.B. this procedure is undocumented.....

To create a RAM flesystem:

mkramdisk 16384 (# of 512K blocks = 8MB in this example)

mkfs -V jfs -o "log=nointegrity,nbpi=512" /dev/ramdisk0

mount -V jfs -o nointegrity /dev/ramdisk0 /mnt

To remove a RAM filesystem:

unmount /mnt

rmramdisk /dev/ramdisk0
