How to do a Manual install with a Smart Start COMPAQ CD for NT 4.0 Server

The reason for the Manual Smart Install Over the Assisted Install is for the Speed of 35 Minutes or If you don't have a SPD.INI floppy for your server. This FAQ is on how to install a NT4.0 OS on a COMPAQ server using the Manual Install function of the Smart Start CD.

1.Boot with the Smart Start and run SYSTEM ERASE. Reboot.
2.Boot to Smart Start and Pick the regular selection which are pretty simple like Language. One of the Screens will prompt you to pick the Install Path and You should Pick Manual Installation. Again pick all the default self explanatory settings on the server.
3.The Smart Start will run an Array Configuration Utility if you have an Array Controller and ask for the type of Raid set you want and then finish the install of the System COMPAQ F10 Partition. Then the Smart Start will prompt you for the OS install.
4.Put in the Winnt 4.0 CD and boot pressing the F6 Key once a second the whole time until you get a prompt saying that 'No devices where found press S to specify additional devices.' Press 'S' and then press 'Other' and now you need the Second Disk of the NTSSD (Look on directions to create second SSD disk on additional FAQ).
5. Put in the second SSD floppy and depending on the type of controller you have pick the appropriate driver:
Regular SCSI port-->32 Bit SCSI Controller Driver
Smart 2 controller family and 32xx--> Drive Array Controller Driver
4200,431, Raid on Chip-->Integrated Smart Array/42xx/43x Controller Driver.
53xx--> 53xx Controller Driver.
6.Continue with the Install as you would just your regular NT4.0 Install, the rest of the install needs no additional tips or tricks.
