"Often, architecture and infrastructure are used interchangeably. ThereÆs a subtle difference. Infrastructure consists of applications, hardware, and software. Architecture, on the other hand, refers to the overlying principles and processes that lead the organizationÆs infrastructure deployment. Infrastructure is a snapshot, while architecture is a continuously evolving set of ideas and philosophies. Architecture includes infrastructure, but the two arenÆt synonymous."
Douglas W. Allen, from "Establishing an EAI Architecture" http://www.esicom.com/company/resources/articles/EstablishinganEAIArchitecture.pdf
Similarly one may distinguish between logical architecture and physical architecture (that is, infrastructure). For example in data architecture "logical data architecture [is] the blueprint of the data within your company [while] physical architecture [is] applications, tools, and middleware." (Italics are the author's)
Nirmal Baid from "logical data architecture: Building a blueprint of your company's most valuable asset"
