A shared border is a border at the left, top, right, or bottom of your page. You can use it for logos or links--features that will remain the same on every page in your web. If you need to make a change, such as change the copyright date, open any page and make the change. It will change across the web site.
To apply them, select Format>Shared Borders.
The Shared Borders dialog box opens. Choose which ones you would like to apply and click the OK button. Then just add in the content to the border.
There are some incompatability issues and bugs worth noting:
*In FrontPage 2000, the borders can inexplicably blank, so make sure you have a backup of the files--it is corrected in 2002.
*Using all four borders does not seem to work well with Netscape.
*The shared borders properties new to 2002, which allows you to change the color of the border and make it look like a frame, will only work if your provider has 2002 extensions.
