What is ERROR 550 and how do I fix the problem?

Apparently this is an error relating to a couple of different problems. I have listed both below.

this is an FTP error found in the following software:

Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 for Windows 98
Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 for Windows 95
Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 for Windows NT 4.0

To fix the problem you must:

upgrade to Internet Explorer 5.01. You can obtain Internet Explorer 5.01 from the following Microsoft Web site:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie

This problem was corrected in Internet Explorer 5.01

The second explanationa nd solution was brought to our attention by another Tek-Tips member:

"The 550 error is a message from the server stating that the account you have currently logged in as does not have permission to perform the action you are attempting. You may be trying to upload to the wrong directory or trying to delete a file."
