Getting a date and time from Oracle

by  Glowball  Posted    (Edited  )
Sometimes no matter what you try you can't get Oracle to give you a date and time from your database. Even SYSDATE on its own won't work. Try this code!
Code:
<cfquery name="get" datasource="myDSN">
SELECT TO_CHAR(theDate,'MM-DD-YYYY HH:MI:SS AM') "formattedDate" FROM tablename
</cfquery>
<cfoutput query="get">
    #get.formattedDate#<br>
</cfoutput>
This assumes the table is named [tt]tablename[/tt] and has a column named [tt]theDate[/tt].
