"Never just copy the runtime libraries; this creates a lot of headaches,
especially in systems which may not have the runtimes installed where you
might expect (2K and XP notably) or that protect their system folders (ME).
Installting the runtimes via a distribution created with Setup Wizard, InstallShield,
Visual Studio Installer or one of the many installer products that works in
conjunction with the Windows installer is a necessity; the interdependency
of files on operating system components other than just the runtimes is a
major cause of the headaches most people encounter after installation. It's
particularly crucial in environments where side-by-side version is in use,
in which case it;s virtually impossible to guess at where the files need to
be and what registration entries are affected if improper installation
occurs. "
