Use either of the following stored procedures:

SP_ATTACH_DB

SP_ATTACH_SINGLE_FILE_DB

An example based on the BOL sample:

[tt]sp_attach_single_file_db 'pubs',
'c:\mssql7\data\pubs.mdf'[/tt]
