Why do I get "Error?" with a Report TextBox Control Source That's Correct

If you put a control formula in a text box on a report and find that it gives "Error?" when you know the formula is correct. . .make sure that you drag an unbound textbox on to the report from the toolbox rather than dragging a default textbox from the field list and then reformatting it. For whatever reason at the deeper level Access won't take a field-dedicated textbox and allow subsequent changes to the control source.
