Expression Builder in A2K and A2K2

by  thornmastr  Posted    (Edited  )
Remember in A97 when totally involved in the VB editor trying to work through a particularly nasty event procedure when you had to refer to the value of a variable on a sub form within a sub form and all you had to do to find it was right click the mouse and pop up the expression builder and find and get the exact correct variable reference?

Have you tried that in A2K and A2K2. ItÆs gone. Not there and it never will return. Microsoft forgot to include it and as is usual with MS, once forgottenà.gone forever. Well, I liked that tool a lot and IÆve found the fix. Not from MS and itÆs free and IÆve used it for a while because I wanted to make sure it does at the least what the old one did before screaming HEY, LOOK AT THIS. Well, it does work. And when you need the correct syntax for an incredibly well hidden variable on some buried hidden form or sub form, it is wonderful.

Like I said it is free. No come on, no hidden agenda, etc. You do need some visual basic files on your system and if you donÆt have them, the web page will point you to where to get them (they are free, too).

. It is a VB6 add-in to provide the
functionality of the Expression Builder. Available at:

you simply putt the DLL with your other DLL files and register it using regsver32 and thatÆs all you have to do. The next time you are in the VB editor, right click your mouse. You will see it.

Those of you who need this tool will appreciate having it back.
